Ale’s big yellow hat gets lots of attention. Everyone wants to know if I made it. Then it’s plucked off Ale’s head turned and inside out by knitter friends and strangers to discover its pattern. On the grey winter days it’s like a beacon of light. The hat matches his lively personality. It helps me find him in a crowded playground. It’s super warm. Ale loves the hat and never leaves home without it.

“AWGRRRRR! I see you, mama!”
This past weekend we went to the New York Transit Museum in downtown Brooklyn. It was a rainy day and this was the perfect spot. Ale had so much fun running through the old subway cars of this the super kid friendly museum.

This is a view from the toddler bed. My son’s new favorite toy is a strobe light flashlight. This little light casts huge multicolored prisms on the walls, and our faces in dark rooms. Tonight he wanted to take it with him to bed. Night night!
The sea has such a calming effect on my husband, myself and Ale. From when he was a tiny baby he was drawn to the ocean. When we went to Cape Cod for the first time he was only about nine months. He sat in my arms transfixed by the rolling waves. He did not want to leave.

The summer is not summer without time spent by a body of water. Each year we visit pools, lakes and oceans. Each has the same effect. They refresh, offer a great place to play, and give a sense of peace.
This photo was taken in July at Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. It was a cloudy day but we still had a wonderful time by the sea.
